CPT®
Certified Professional Trainer (CPT®)
CPT is administered by HRMI (The HR Management Institute); one of the most renowned institutes for management and communications in the United States and Worldwide. By earning CPT candidates demonstrate that they have mastered the training and development body of knowledge, obtained the skills of a professional trainer, and committed to HRMI core values and code of ethics.
CIHRT Certificate Preparation
If you are studying in order to prepare for the CPT exam; HRMI provides candidates with training sessions for many of the exam questions. HRMI also provide thorough training for the exam modules using its learning system through authorized training providers and prometric centers worldwide.
HRMI CPT Recertification
Once you have passed the CPT exam and received your certificate, you will need to stay up to date on developments in training and development practices. To prove you have maintained and updated your training knowledge and skills, HRMI requires that you recertify every 3 years. (please refer to recertification for more info)
Requirements:
- A passing score on the CPT Examination.
- Bachelor Degree in related field;
- A minimum of 3 years experience in training, learning and development.
- A Minimum of 25 hours of training and business development approved training.
Exam Format:
The CPT (Certified Professional Trainer) examination is a 3-hour exam, multiple essay and case study questions (5-10 questions). The exam is given in booklet form.

There are 3 available options for those looking to obtain certified and its extensive career benefits. Certification demonstrated advanced knowledge, experience and qualification.
Option 1: Certification Preparation
If you are studying in order to prepare for the professional certification exam; the HRMI provides candidates with training sessions for many of the exam questions. HRMI also provide thorough training for the exam modules using its learning system through authorized training providers and prometric centers worldwide.
Option 2: An Equivalent Recognized Qualification
If you have already studied for a similarly-advanced qualification either at university or while working as in a HR management capacity, you may qualify for certified membership with HRMI®. Depending on the type and level of qualification you already hold, you may be entitled to skip one or any number of the essential modules within our Certification Preparation
It is also possible to qualify for non-standard exemptions, which are awarded in the instances of professional or academic qualifications or achievement you believe match the requirements set out.
Option 3: Prior Learning Assessment & Recognition (PLAR)
We understand that it is perfectly possible to learn a great deal about professional HR management, without necessarily having to study for formal qualifications. As such, HRMI® also offers a prior learning assessment service, which enables us to give additional credit and consideration to those who have reached higher levels of competency and expanded their knowledge through non-academic pursuits. Turn your practical experience into certifications – You may have gained valuable knowledge and skills through independent study, working experience, volunteering or travel. The Prior Learning Assessment & Recognition (PLAR) program at HRMI® can help you identify and translate this learning into certification, possibly enabling you to receive a professional certification in less time and cost. The examination can be waived on the basis of your CV, academic & professional certificates and work experiences.

AWARD OF CERTIFICATION
Upon successful completion of the program requirements, the candidates will be conferred the Certified Professional Trainer (CPT®) by HRMI.
